DORTMUND, Germany, Mar. 8, 2019–Isabell Werth dominated the CDI4* Grand Prix Friday, riding Emilio to victory and Don Johnson FRH to runner-up.
The German superstar and Emilio, 13-year-old Westfalen gelding on which Isabell is ranked No. 4 in the world, scored 76.804 per cent for the win in the pair’s first competition in three months.
Isabell, World Cup champion on Weihegold OLD the past two years, is preparing Emilio as a backup to defend her title at the final in Gothenburg, Sweden April. 3-7. She has already qualified Weihegold, ranked No. 1.
Germany’s double Olympic and World Equestrian Games eventing gold medalist Ingrid Klimke on Franziskus posted a personal best 73.826 per cent to place third. The previous high Grand Prix score for Ingrid and Franziskus, an 11-year-old Hanoverian stallion, was 72.587 per cent set two years ago.
