ZHASHKIV, Ukraine, Mar. 2, 2019–Ukraine’s Olympic and World Games combination of Inna Logutenkova on Don Gregorius eke out win in the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday.

In the first of two back-to-back competitions to wrap up Central European qualifying for the World Cup next month, Inna and the 17-year-old Oldenburg stallion scored 75.840 per cent for the win.

Inna also rode Fleraro, 16-year-old Dansh Warmblood gelding, to second place on a score of 75.755 per cent.

Maksim Kovshov on Flirt, on the Ukraine teams at the 2015 and 2017 Europeans as well as the 2014 Normandy World Games, were third on 70.980 per cent.

The results of the two Ukraine World Cup events have no impact on the two places allocated to Central Europe for the final in Gothenburg, Sweden in a month.

Russians Regina Isachkina and Stanislav Cherednichenko are tied atop the league standings with 68 points and no rider in the last of the World Cup circuit shows can earn enough points to challenge.

Hositilities between Russia and Ukraine limit opportunities for riders from the two nations competing in each other’s qualifying events.
