BAWLEY POINT, Australia, Feb. 22, 2019–The Olympic team partnership of Suzanne Hearn and Remmington won Australia’s first CDI4* Grand Prix Friday, staged at Dressage by the Sea at the architecturally acclaimed Willinga Park.
Suzanne and the 17-year-old Australian-bred gelding were awarded 68.391 per cent for the victory in the eighth year of Big Tour competition for the pair.
Mary Warren competing Mindarah Park Raphael in only the second Big Tour event for the 11-year-old home-bred gelding placed second on 67.196 per cent.
The 20-year-old Mary and Raphael have been partnered in the international show ring from Young Riders in 2015 and through Under-25 division before the duo’s first Big Tour last November. She has followed the same competition path on Mindarah Park Ramadan, the sire of Raphael.
Rozzie Ryan on Jarrah R was third on 67.022 per cent.
Terry Snow, the owner of Willinga Park on the Pacific coast south of Sydney, launched the first CDI4* Down Under to attract higher rated judges from the Northern Hemisphere as an investment in development of dressage, as well as offer more prize money, ahead of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
