WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 21, 2019–Charlotte Jorst and Kastel’s Nintendo returned to the Adequan Global Dressage Festival to claim victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Thursday after an absence of two years that she described as time spent “really learning to ride… getting all my basics.”

Charlotte and the 16-year-old KWPN stallion that she competed at the 2016 World Cup Final and on United States teams at four Nations Cups in Europe were awarded 71.891 per cent, the highest Grand Prix result for the pair since Wellington in January, 2017.

U.S. Olympic and World Games rider Adrienne Lyle on Harmony’s Duval were second on 69.500 per cent in only their second Big Tour event.

Rebecca Waite of Loxahatchee, Florida riding Doktor in a CDI for the first time placed third on 68.391 per cent. Doktor, an Oldenburg gelding now 16 years old, was competed at Grand Prix on both sides of the Atlantic for six years by Shelly Francis.

Charlotte Jorst, 54 years old and based in Reno, Nevada, said she returned to the U.S. East Coast after a break of almost two years to the day with several young horses as well as Akeem Foldager and Nintendo that she said is still No. 1 in her heart.

In the past two years, she told dressage-news.com, “I have really focused on learning to ride, train and getting all my basics… just learning. I’ve taken a different approach to it. It’s always about learning, about having great rides. My approach is a bit different, to everything. It’s been great.”

The lineup of shows and availability of a wide range of classes attracted her to return to Florida with several young horses.

“I can show every weekend,” she said. “I can get everyone in the ring in a very short amount of time and I’m so looking forward to that.”

High on her priorities is the Iron Spring Farm Future Stars Performance Series for developing Prix St. Georges horses aged seven to nine years old.

“I’m so looking forward to the season,” that she intends to see through to its conclusion at the end of March.

She has begun working with German trainer Ulf Möller, a leading trainer for many years who is based in Wellington in winter with the sales and marketing operation of Denmark’s Helgstrand Dressage.
