WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 7, 2019–Adrienne Lyle rode her World Games team silver medal mount Salvino to victory in the Adequan Global Dressage Festival CDI5* Grand Prix Thursday, the only top ranked event outside Europe, giving up a campaign for a start at the World Cup Final in April.

The Olympic rider and the 12-year-old Hanoverian stallion received a score of 74.565 per cent in the Grand Prix to ride in the Special, the first win since this same circuit in the winter of 2018.

Shelly Francis and Danilo, who competed at the World Cup Final in Paris last year, placed second on 69.478 per cent with Germany’s Michael Klimke on Royal Dancer third on 68.674 per cent.

Salvino is competing in his third Global dressage circuit since being acquired as a USA team prospect for Adrienne, 34 years old who rode Wizard at the 2012 Olympics in London.

She said she is focusing Salvino, owned by Betsy Juliano, for the European tour by a group of U.S. combinations that will center on the World Equestrian Festival Nations Cup at Aachen, Germany in July. Because of the increase in the number of events to three from two previously required to qualify in the North American League for a start at the World Cup Final she opted out of the championship program.

Salvino, or “Vinnie,” as he’s nicknamed, was given a complete month off after the WEG in Tryon. Since then, she said, she has embarked on strength program for the horse that includes regular visits to an aquatred that has helped significantly improve Salvino’s fitness.
