Sezuan will be focused on sport instead of breeding in 2019 as Sweden’s Patrik Kittel prepares the triple world young horse champion for Grand Prix.

Frozen semen only will be available for breeding this year, owners Arlette Jasper-Kohl and Prof. Edwin Kohl announced Thursday.

“In the past,” they said, “there was strong demand from breeders worldwide. This was a strong double burden. We don’t want to impose this on Sezuan on the way to the Grand Prix. The well-being of our horses has always been our top priority. And for this reason we ask our breeders for their understanding that we only keep frozen semen from Sezuan.”

Sezuan became the first stallion to achieve triple gold at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and at Small Tour competed by his trainer Dorothee Schneider, the German Olympian.
