WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 24, 2019–Canada’s Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu, four months pregnant and riding her All In unexpectedly in a covered arena because of torrential downpours, posted a personal best score to win the Adequan Global Dressage Festival CDI3* Grand Prix Thursday.

Brittany and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding, the top ranked Canadian combination on the world standings, scored 72.761 per cent for the victory in the pair’s second show since competing at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon last September.

Brittany, who will not have enough time to prepare for the Pan American Games as she is expected to give birth just a month before the continental championships in July, has been competing All In at international level since Small Tour in 2013. Among the highlights was team and individual silver at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.

She joked after the ride when some women spectators commented that she may be sitting back more: “It may help I’m carrying more junk in the trunk…I weigh seven pounds more.”

“He’s done so much for me and he’s doing better than ever that it’s great to give him an easier year,” she told dressage-news.com. “We hoper we can peak next year for Tokyo (Olympics).”

Katherine Bateson-Chandler, based in Wellington, placed second on Alcazar on a score of 70.957 per cent in their first event since the 2018 Global circuit in March.

Katherine has adopted a similar work schedule for Alcazar as her long-time trainer Carl Hester–four days a week with no drilling longer than 30 minutes and regular use of aquatred and long hacks.

Canada’s Jill Irving on Arthur was third on 69.783 per cent in the rider’s campagin to earn a place on her nation’s team for the Pan Ams in Lima.

The USA’s Jennifer Baumert on Handsome won the CDI3* Prix St. Georges on a score of  72.647 per cent to continue the pair’s winning performances in 2018–eight victories in 11 Small Tour starts on Florida’s Global circuit.
