ANKUM, Germany, Dec. 9, 2018–American horse breeder Leslie Malone bought the stallion V-Plus for the highest price for a dressage horse of €1.2/US$1.37 million at the 39th annual Performance Sales International auction Sunday.
The four-year-old black stallion (Vivaldi x Fürst Romancier) went to Leslie’s Harmony Sporthorses of Kiowa, Colorado.
“This is a stallion with extraordinary quality and exceptional character,” said PSI partner Ullrich Kasselmann. “His aura is magnified into everything and the buyers were fascinated by him.”
The horse will be trained and competed by Great Britain’s Susan Pape, who has worked with Harmony for several years. She will compete Harmony’s Eclectisch at the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal, the German small tour championship, in Frankfurt, Germany later this week.
The chestnut mare Stakkariealla was also sold to America for €2.4/US$2.74 million, the most expensive jumping horse ever sold in the history of the P.S.I. Auction. The horse was bred at PSI partner Paul Schockemöhle’s Lewitz Stud.
Dressage horses brought a total of €7.265/US$8.286 million, an average price of €290,600/US$331,415 and the show jumpers €9.975/US$11,375 million, an average of €399,000/US$455,000.
