The West Coast Dressage Festival that debuted with a circuit of four shows in California this year has scheduled a similar circuit for next winter and added two late-year CDIs in 2019. The winter-long Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida. has shuffled its six international big money events in a move to boost participation in the only Nations Cup offered outside Europe.

Global is expected to remain at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Festival Stadium complex where it has been based since 2012, and not move to nearby International Polo Club where planned new facilities were held up as organizers focused on the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina.

The West Coast Dressage Festival of four shows in winter and spring and two in November will be staged entirely at Temecula, California in 2019 which was the venue of its first competition in 2018 before moving to Del Mar for three shows.

The preliminary 2019 North American schedule of 28 CDIs–24 in the United States and four in Canada–has been published by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). Some changes are expected throughout the year. No CDIs are listed for the Colorado Horse Park or Central Park in New York or for the western provinces of Canada.

The Pan American Games, staged once every four years and in Lima, Peru next year–dressage at the end of July–at which two countries can qualify teams for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics–one from North America and one from Central and South America. The United States qualified for Tokyo with its team silver medal performance at the WEG in Tryon last month.

Pan Am dressage is mixed big and small tour combinations.

The schedule shows four World Cup events during the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington and three in Temecula as qualifiers for the championship final in Gothenberg, Sweden in April.

The World Cup Final returns to Las Vegas in April, 2020 which means CDI-Ws after the end of March next year will be qualifiers for 2020.

Global, in addition to its four World Cup shows for the 2019 final, is also staging as it has since its founding in 2012 the only CDIO3* Nations Cup in the Americas as well the only top rated CDI5* and a CDI4* competitions.

However, the Nations Cup has been moved to mid-March from its usual end of circuit date in March in an effort to increase participation, especially from European countries that often return home before the end of March to prepare for the outdoor season.

Tryon has also restored its two CDIs–cut back to one in 2018 as the facility hosted the combined world championships in September.
