ERMELO, Netherlands, July 29, 2018–Edward Gal on Glock’s Zonik became the 2018 Dutch Champion in winning the Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday a day after capturing the Grand Prix and were expected to lead the Netherlands team at the World Equestrian Games in six weeks.
Hans Peter Minderhoud on Glock’s Dream Boy took silver and Adelinde Cornelissen on Aqiedo bronze in the last competition before the Dutch team was named for the world championships in Tryon, North Carolina.
Edward Gal, 48 years old and Glock’s Zonik, a 10-year-old Danish Warmblood stallion, were awarded 83.425 per cent by the ground jury of five Dutch judges, a common practice for all judges from the same country to be on the panel for national championships.
Hans Peter Minderhoud, 44, and Glock’s Dream Boy, a 10-year-old KWPN stallion placed second on 81.435 per cent;
Adelinde Cornelissen, 39, and Aqiedo, 13-year-old KWPN stallion, were third on 79.000 per cent.
