HICKSTEAD, England, July 27, 2018–France and Great Britain were tied a the top of the CDIO3* Nations Cup standings after the first phase Grand Prix in the finale of the trans-Atlantic series that has already been won by Sweden.
France was led by Pierre Volla on Badinda Altene who placed first individually on 72.674 per cent with Louise Anne Bell on Into the Blue second on 71.674 per cent to help keep Britain stay tied at the top. Pierre and the 12-year-old KWPN mare was the star of France’s team at this same competition a year ago and claiming their first ever dressage Nations Cup.
Only four nations, Portugal and Sweden are the other two, are competing in the last of seven team competitions that began in Wellington, Florida four months ago before moving across the Atlantic.
Sweden already had established an unassailable lead to repeat as series champion after five events this year.
The format that was introduced at several of the events this year was to count placings of combinations in the Grand Prix, Special and Freestyle with the lowest total winning.
The standings after the Grand Prix: 1T. France 17; 1T. Great Britain 17; 3. Portugal 22; 4. Sweden 23.
