FALSTERBO, Sweden, July 13, 2018–Adelinde Cornelissen rode Zephyr to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday, the third win of the year for the Dutch pair. Don Auriello, the two-time Olympic mount for Sweden’s Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén, did not start in what was to be their second comeback show after an absence of almost two years from competition.

Adelinde and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding scored 70.391 per cent for the wiin. Sweden’s Sofie Lexner and Tobajo Pik Disney were second on 70.000 per cent and Finland’s Stella Hagelstam on New Hill Julitrea third on 69.978 per cent.

Don Auriello, a 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding, was undergoing veterinary examination after Tinne reported the withdrawal.

The seven-time Olympic rider first competed Don Auriello at Big Tour in Florida in 2011 and following year was on Sweden’s team at the London Games. The pair competed at the 2014 World Equestrian Games and the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Don Auriello was taken to Florida with Tinne this winter in preparation for their comeback after being out of competition since Rio.

The pair competed at the Rotterdam CDI3* last month, placing second in the Grand Prix and the Freestyle in preparation for the Tryon World Equestrian Games in two months.
