LEUDELANGE, Luxembourg, July 7, 2018–Steffen Peters rode Rosamunde to victory in the CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday for the American pair’s second highest score.

Steffen of San Diego, California and the 11-year-old Rhinelander mare scored 80.550 per cent, the unanimous choice for first by the five judges and that gave the four-time Olympian their third straight win at this show–two on Rosamunde and one on Suppenkasper with one more start scheduled for Sunday.

“Rosie was great,” Steffent said after the ride, the last competition with Rosamunde before the CDIO5* Nations Cup at Aachen, Germany in two weeks as a final step in their campaign to make the United States team at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina in two months.

“This was the first time that I didn’t ask the announcer to reduce the decibels for Rosie’s music. I wanted to find out for Aachen. Rosie stayed relaxed. A good walk tour confirmed this. I’m so happy with the improvements since last year. Good girl Rosie.”

Sascha Schulz, based at this facility where the show is being staged, rode Dragao, a 10-year-old Lusitano stallion, to a personal best of 77.812 per cent to take second. Their previous best was 76.475 per cent in March.

Portland’s Maria Caetano on Coroado was third on 75.888 per cent.

Ashley Holzer and Havanna placed fourth on 75.298 per cent after placing second in the Grand Prix Friday. Although not matching a personal best of 78.200 per cent set in Wellington, Florida in February it was Ashley’s highest score in Europe since riding Breaking Dawn to a score of 75.925 per cent at Hartpury, England in 2012 when placed second to Charlotte Dujardin on Valegro a month before the Olympics in London.
