Laura Graves on Verdades, ranked No. 2 in the world, will lead The Dutta Corp. United States team at the Nations Cup in Aachen, Germany July 17-22, the final event to select America’s team for the World Equestrian Games at home in September.
US Equestrian on Friday named four athlete-and-horse combinations for the Nations Cup team and another four combinations for the CDI4* at the World Equestrian Festival CHIO.
Laura and Verdades is the only combination in the world to beat Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD, the top ranked partnership, since the 2016 Olympics which they did at Aachen in the Grand Prix Special last year and in the Grand Prix at the World Cup Final in Paris in April
The team for Aachen:
—Laura Graves, of Geneva, Florida and Verdades, a 16-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding she owns with Curt Maes;
—Adrienne Lyle, of Ketchum, Idaho and Salvino, 11-year-old Hanoverian stallion owned by Betsy Juliano LLC;
—Kasey Perry-Glass of Wellington, Florida and Goerklintgaards Dublet, 15-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding owned by Diane Perry, and
—Steffen Peters of San Diego, California and Rosamunde, 11-year-old Rheinlander mare owned by Four Winds Farm.
Combinations to compete in the CDI4* big tour are:
—Shelly Francis, of Loxahatchee, Florida and Danilo, 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Patricia Stempel;
—Ashley Holzer, of New York, City and Havanna 145, 11-year-old Hanoverian mare owned by Diane Fellows’;
—Olivia LaGoy-Weltz, of Haymarket, Virginia and Lonoir, the 14-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding she owns with Mary Anne McPhail, and
Steffen Peters and Suppenkasper, 10-year-old KWPN gelding owned by Four Winds Farm.
An additional observation event will take place at Leudelange, Luxembourg CDI4* July 3-8.
