LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 20, 2018–The 2019 European Championships for Ponies for dressage, jumping and eventing were allocated to Strzegom in Poland and the 2020 dressage European Championship for Young Riders and Juniors will be staged at Hartpury, England as announced by the International Equestrian Federation Wednesday that also pledged greater emphasis on youth.

The FEI Bureau gave the dates for the ponies championships as Aug. 15-18, 2019 and for the Hartpury championships July 27-Aug. 2, 2020.

The FEI said that based on feedback from the Sports Forum earlier this year that focused on youth measures and initiatives being planned include:

Rankings–All disciplines agreed that rankings for youth across all disciplines are an important tool. Monthly rankings already exist for dressage for all age divisions–Under 25, Young Rider, Junior. Ponies and Children. Other initiatives include armbands, finals and invitations to different events based on the youth ranking.

Series–For disciplines that do not have youth oriented series,  proposals are currently being considered by discipline technical committees or aby national federations.

Media promotion and training–To provide greater exposure and visibility for young athletes to help develop sponsorship and attract horse owners, a media training kit will be developed by the FEI for young athletes.
