AACHEN. Germany, May 29, 2018–Great Britain’s Gareth Hughes and Don Carissimo won the Aachen Dressage Days CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Tuesday for the first double victory in almost two years at Big Tour.
Gareth and the 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding scored 76.250 per cent, a day after capturing the Grand Prix and the highest mark for the pair outside Britain. The rider is seeking to make Britain’s team for the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina in September.
The duo have competed for Britain at Nations Cup competitions and were named to the 2017 European Championship team but withdrew with a minor injury before the start of competition last August.
Germany’s Frederic Wandres on Duke of Britain placed second on 75.100 per cent with the Netherlands’ Anne Meulendijks on MDH Avanti third also on 75.100 per cent.
