UGGERHALNE, Denmark, May 27, 2018–Denmark’s Daniel Bachmann Andersen and Blue Horse Zepter won the Grand Prix Special Sunday for a CDIO4* double victory but Sweden held on to capture the Nations Cup, its second straight team competition in the trans-Atlantic series.
Daniel and Zepter, a 10-year-old Oldenburg stallion, posted a personal best score of 78.128 per cent in the pair’s third Special and a day after logging their best result in the Grand Prix.
Sweden’s Therese Nilshagen on Dante Weltino Old placed second individually on 75.319 per cent with the Netherlands’ Emmelie Scholtens on Apache third on 74.745 per cent.
Sweden, however, held on to capture the Nations Cup, the country’s second straight victory in the trans-Atlantic team series. It won in France last week.
The total results after the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special: 1. Sweden 432.418; 2. Denmark 429.033; 3. Netherlands 424.313 4. Finland 405.134.
Standings after the third of seven events in the series: 1. Sweden 27, points; 2. Denmark 23; 3. Netherlands 20; 4. United States 10; 5. Great Britain 9; Canada 8; 10. Australia, Belgium, Finland 7.
The next Nations Cup is a CDIOI5* at Rotterdam, Netherlands June 21-24.
