MEXICO CITY, May 26, 2018–Bernadette Pujals on her 2016 Olympic partner Heslegaards Rolex on Saturday won the Intermediate 1, the final selection event to be one of four combinations named to Mexico’s team for the Central American & Caribbean Games in July.

The four-member team named by the Mexican federation for the Games in Bogotá, Colombia is Mariana Quintana on Benzema, Bernadette Pujals on Heslegaards Rolex, Monica Burssens on Elfentanz and Enrique Palacios on Lorenzo. The event will be at small tour and is a qualifier for the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru in 2019.

Bernadette, a two-time Olympian as well as competing in two World Equestrian Games, scored 70.00 in the Intermediate 1 Saturday. The pair, Mexico’s top combination this century, competed in only two of the selection competitions.

Mariana Quintana on Benzema established an early lead in the lineup of events to insure the pair’s selection for the team.

Monica Burssens swept the second selection competition and took the Prix St. Georges in the third event that qualified the Wellington, Florida-based partnership for their first senior championship.

The Games, at which Mexico won team and individual gold in 2014. are a qualifying competition for the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru next year, as is the South American Games scheduled for for next week.
