UGGERHALNE, Denmark, May 26, 2018–Denmark’s Daniel Bachmann Andersen rode Blue Hors Zepter to a personal best score to win the CDIO4* Grand Prix Saturday, but a strong team gave Sweden a big lead for the second straight Nations Cup.
Daniel and the 10-year-old Oldenburg stallion in only the fourth event since starting Big Tour last October, scored 76.217 per cent for the victory. Emmelie Scholtens of the Netherlands on Apache placed second.
Sweden’s 2017 European Championship combination of Therese Nilshagen on Dante Weltino OLD placed third on 73.087 per cent with her three team mates filling the next three places. Sweden was the only nation to have the three scores that counted team result.
After the Grand Prix, the standings were: 1. Sweden 215.651; 2. Netherlands 209.675; 3. Denmark 209.543; 4. Finland 202.261. The Nations Cup will be decided by the Grand Prix Special Sunday.
This Nations Cup is the third of seven scheduled in the trans-Atlantic series with the United States capturing the first in Wellington, Florida in March and Sweden taking the second event in France just last week.
Sweden is the defending champion of the series that, similar to 2017, has different formats for each event so far with more changes in the next competitions.
