MINSK, Belarus, April 29, 2018–Hanna Karasiova of Belarus posted a personal best score on Zodiak to claim victory in the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday, the first event in the Central European circuit to decide two combinations for the Final in Gothenburg, Sweden a year from now.
Hanna and the 10-year-old Latvian gelding she competed at the Paris individual championship earlier this month scored 73.275 per cent.
She placed second on Arlekino, a 12-year-old Latvian gelding she rode at the 2017 Wold Cup Final in Omaha, for a score of 73.165 per cent, but the result did not earn series points.
Russia’s Stanislav Cherednichenko on Arums placed third on 71.875 per cent, the first CDI freestyle for the pair. The nine-year-old gelding, also Latvian-bred, was previously competed by Russians Inessa Merkulova and Marina Aframeeva at small tour and by Hanna Karasiova in young horse and small tour.
This was the first of 17 World Cup events on the calendar for Central Europe, running until next March.
