DEL MAR, California, Jan. 20, 2018–Sabine Schut-Kery and Sanceo won the Adequan West Coast Dressage Festival World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday night in the first CDI musical performance for the United States Pan American Games team gold medal partnership in three years.

The victory for Sabine and the 12-year-old Hanoverian stallion on a score of 74.100 per cent came a day after capturing the Grand Prix in their first Big Tour competition.

There were big differences in the scores in the Freestyle, an aspect that has become noticeable in the first two of the newly created Adequan West Coast Dressage Festival of four events.

Sabine of Thousand Oaks, California and Sanceo were awarded a high score of 77.125 per cent from Isobell Wessels of Great Britain at C and a low of 70.500 per cent from the American Sarah Geikie at M, who placed the pair third in the lineup of four combinations.

Charlotte Jorst of Reno Nevada and the seasoned Kastel’s Nintendo were second on 71.850 per cent with Dawn White-O’Connor of Cardiff, California on Legolas third on 70.700 per cent.

Sabine and Sanceo last performed a CDI freestyle in March 2015 when the pair rode the Intermediate 1, just four months before the Pan American Games in Toronto where they were on the mixed small tour/big tour team that won gold.

The Grand Prix music was a mix that included segments from the scores for the movies the Last of the Mohicans and the Last Samurai.

Sabine plans to take Sanceo to the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida after the West Coast circuit.
