WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, Jan. 13, 2018–The attorney for Alice Tarjan will take depositions from rider Bethany Peslar and trainer Endel Ots next month in the civil suit against Caroline Roffman over the alleged sale of a horse for $900,000 while paying owner Alice Tarjan $300,000.

Alice also filed with the Palm Beach County Circuit Court copies of text messages exchanged with Caroline stating payment from a supposed Belgian buyer had been held up most likely by regulations on terrorism and that Caroline would pay the purchase price directly to avoid further delays.

Alice of Frenchtown, New Jersey is suing Caroline Roffman, the 2012 FEI Rising Star, over the sale of her horse Faberge in 2015.

The suit alleges that Caroline, based in Wellington, Florida, sold the horse for $900,000 to Bethany Pelsar of Wellington, Florida, whose trainer is Endel Ots, a former business partner of Caroline.

The suit outlines an alleged scheme by Caroline to show the purchase price of $300,000 was to be paid by the buyer, Belgian horse dealer Peter Eeckman.

Caroline’s defense is that the suit names her personally as the defendant when the sale, she said, was conducted by Lionshare Dressage, a Florida limited liability company of which she is listed as both the agent and the manager. A hearing has been scheduled for mid-March on whether the suit can proceed as filed with the court.
