FRANKFURT, Germany, Dec. 16, 2017–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Zaire-E captured the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Saturday a day after posting a personal best to win the Grand Prix.
The German championship team rider and the 13-year-old KWPN mare scored 75.529 per cent for the to complete almost five years of an international partnership that began with Zaire in young horse competitions.
The pair of victories in a show were the first in more than two years and came in the third event since Jessica returned from a six-month break to have a baby.
In the German sweep of the top three places, Fabienne Lütkemeier on D’Agostino FRH placed second on 72.608 per cent and Victoria Michalke on Novia was third on 69.039 per cent.
Jessica, 31 years old, said of Zaire–her second horse behind Unee BB–“in the past she was a bit scared, but that’s gone, both mares have given me the feeling that everything is possible.”
And since the birth of her baby boy, Moritz, she is more “grounded.”
“I used to get up and think: ‘that’s the World Cup right now.’ Today I get up and think, ‘what about Moritz?”
