WARENDORF, Germany, Dec. 12, 2017–Germany’s 2018 A squad newly named Olympic and announced Tuesday includes the world’s top three combinations and eight of the top 20 in the global standings.
The Olympic squad with best chances of successful participation in the Olympics of Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 as selected by the German Olympic Committee dressage committee is:
Jessica von Bredow-Werndl with Unee BB (WR #11) and Zaire-E (19), Helen Langehanenberg with Damsey FRH (10), Sönke Rothenberger with Cosmo (2), Dorothee Schneider with Sammy Davis Jr. (17) and Showtime FRH and Isabell Werth with Weihegold OLD (1), Emilio (3) and Don Johnson FRH (6).
The Perspective squad, formerly B, of riders and horses with recent successes and the prospect of moving into the Olympic squad, is: Anabel Balkenhol with Heuberger TSF, Bernadette Brune with Spirit of the Age OLD, Fabienne Lütkemeier with D’Agostino FRH and Fabregaz and Hubertus Schmidt with Imperio.
The junior squad, mostly Under-25 riders, of medium or long-term prospects in international top sport is: Florine Kienbaum with Doctor Schiwago, Lisa-Maria Klössinger with FBW Daktari, Bianca Nowag with Fair Play RB, Juliette Piotrowski with Sir Diamond and Ninja Rathjens with Emilio.
