WELLINGTON, Florida, Dec. 10, 2017–Hundreds of equestrians from around the world for the Florida winter circuit turned out for a champagne buffet brunch to view the lineup of more than 20 horses imported from Denmark for the launching of Helgstrand Dressage.

The launch of the division of the successful Danish sales and training behemoth created by the Olympic and championship rider Andreas Helgstrand is the most ambitious ever by an European in the American dressage horse market.

Riders from the Danish stables such as Australian Simone Pearce who was a star at this year World Young Horse Championships and American Olympian Adrienne Lyle helping out as a catch rider demonstrated the horses that were flown into Florida in the past two weeks.

The lineup included youngsters that competed successfully at the Danish young horse championships and the German Bundechampionate as well as confirmed young rider mounts.

Janne Rumbough, a Dane who became an American and one of the founders of dressage in south Florida, described the operation and presentation as “first class.”

“It’s like the Hermes store of horse sales,” she said during the event on a sunny day with temperatures of about 60F/16C. “No one forces you to buy horses there but everything from the quality of the horses, to the presentation to all the details are first class. I think it is very good for Wellington as a center of international dressage in America.”

The Adequan Global Dressage Festival of seven weeks of CDI competitions opens in Wellington in a month.
