LEXINGTON, Kentucky, Nov. 11, 2017–Melissa Taylor, in her first appearance at the US Finals, rode Ansgar to victory in the Intermediate I Freestyle open Saturday a day after placing third in the Int. 1 Championship.
Melissa and the 12-year-old KWPN gelding that have been partnered for 15 months scored 74.058 per cent for the win. Melissa of Wellington, Florida and Ansgar have competed only once outside her home shows in Palm Beach, at Tryon, North Carolina.
Alexandra Krossen of Basking Ridge, New Jersey and Damani won the Int. 1 amateur championship with a score of 70.842 per cent.
James Koford of Southern Pines, North Carolina on the Friesian Sport Horse Adiah HP took the Grand Prix Freestyle open with a score of 71.133 per cent per cent and Lynnette Wadsworth of St. Augustine, Florida on Wietze claimed the amateur title with a score of 66.417 per cent.
