ZAKRZÓW, Poland, Oct. 29, 2017–Malene Kohlschmidt Ebbesen on Mira won the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday, the first musical performance victory for the Danish team combination in the second year at Big Tour.

Malene and the 17-year-old Danish Warmblood mare were awarded 73.775 per cent for the first win in seven freestyle starts in their Big Tour career that began in June 2016. Malene and Mira, who have competed in three Nations Cups for Denmark, placed second in Grand Prix Saturday.

Poland’s Katarzyna Milczarek and Dzeko was second in the freestyle on 72.900 per cent and Uwe Schwanz of Germany on Hermes, winner of the Grand Prix and the first freestyle in less than two months at Big Tour, was third on 72.675 per cent.

Malene gets to carry her 20 points for the victory back to the Western European League where she will be in a three-way tie for second place behind Sweden’s Patrik Kittel at the top of the WEL standings.

Only a World Cup in Moscow at the end of November remains of the 11-event Central European League schedule with Russia’s Inessa Merkulova on top with 75 points and Hanna Karasiova of Belarus standing second on 71 points. Two places are reserved for Central Europe in the final in Paris next April.
