BONEO, Victoria, Oct. 20, 2017–Judy Dierks and Diamond Star were declared the winner of the World Cup Grand Prix Friday after a penalty for early entry was removed, placing Brett Parbery on DP Weltmieser second.
The score for Judy and the 11-year-old Bavarian gelding was declared as 69.300 per cent, altering the initial result of 68.900 per cent that was impacted by an error of course penalty of two percentage points from the total.
The deduction for an error was imposed when the pair rode into the arena after the arena fence at the entry at A was opened, an action that usually occurs only after the bell for the start of the test has sounded. Judy cantered Diamond Star into the arena but the judge at C, Francis Verbeek of the Netherlands, said the bell had not been rung.
The combination was penalized for an error, had to leave the ring and then re-start after the bell was sounded.
The result of 69.060 per cent for Brett Parbery and DP Weltmieser dropped the duo to second place.
Correction: The judge at C was Franis Verbeek of the Netherlands, not an Australian judge as reported in an earlier version.
