World Equestrian Games tickets went on sale to the public Monday but all day passes for three days of dressage and jumping at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in North Carolina were already sold out because of higher than expected advance purchases.
Individual dressage tickets were offered to the general public from prices as low as $60/€50 per day for Grand Prix team and Grand Prix Special competitions to as high as $150/€127 for the best seats for the Grand Prix Freestyle.
Tickets for the WEG Sept. 11-23, 2018 are available online at: https://tryon2018.com/article/tickets-now-on-sale-for-fei-world-equestrian-games-tryon-2018-in-mill-spring-north-carolina-usa-on-september-11-23-2018
The World Games of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, jumping, reining, vaulting and para-dressage are staged only once every four years and are being held for only the second time in the United States since the world championships of international horse sports were combined in 1990.
The WEG organization reported that All Day Session Passes were sold out for the two days of dressage Grand Prix team and individual competition Wednesday and Thursday Sept. 12-13 and the Grand Prix Special for individual medals on Friday Sept. 14. Tickets at discounted prices were offered in advance last Friday and over the weekend to competitors at the Global Dressage and Winter Equestrian Festivals at Wellington, Florida and residents of both North and South Carolina.
“We will re-evaluate the release of additional All Day Session Passes at the time of individual discipline session tickets in November,” the WEG organization said in a statement referring to .
“We anticipate a sold-out event, as pre-purchase ticket sales were significantly above estimates.”
The All Session Dressage Pass for all four days of competition is offered at $345/€290, a discount from the list prices totaling $375/€315.

VIP tickets and hospitality packages will also be released in early November and customers can trade up their purchased tickets toward the higher value ticketing/hospitality options.
Sales of tickets began as truck loads of steel and other building materials began pouring into the Tryon International Equestrian Center to complete construction of facilities to handle crowds projected to total about 500,000 to watch an estimated 1,000 horses and athletes from about 70 nations.
More than 1,200 permanent horse stalls are already completed. The layout of the show grounds puts the stalls within just a few hundreds yards/meters of warmup rings that are adjacent to the WEG competition arenas.
However, the main arena for 20,000 spectators for dressage. jumping and eventing show jumping is still to be built–not unusual for Olympic and WEG temporary arenas and footing.
