DEVON, Pennsylvania, Sept. 30, 2018–Ashley Holzer rode Havanna to victory in the Dressage at Devon CDI3* Grand Prix SpeciaL Saturday, the first back-to-back wins for the American pair as well as a second straight personal best score.
Ashley of New York and Wellington, Florida and the 10-year-old Hanoverian mare were awarded 71.157 per cent for the win in their second CDI Grand Prix Special. The duo claimed the Grand Prix a day earlier, also with a personal best.
Ashley, a four-time Olympian for Canada but who has been riding for the United States since early this year–her husband and children are Americans–began Big Tour on Havanna in April and the duo has now logged three victories.
Havanna was acquired by Diane Fellows from German team rider Jessica von Bredow-Werndl as a prospect for Ashley for the U.S. team at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina a year from now.
Canada’s two-time Olympian Belinda Trussell on Tattoo scored 68.529 per cent for second, the same placing as in the Grand Prix.
In the first CDI Special for Ellesse Tzinberg of the Philippines and Triviant, the pair scored 65.882 per cent for third place after posting a personal best 66.400 per cent for third in the Grand Prix.
Ellesse began competing Triviant, a 17-year-old KWPN gelding, at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida in January after acquiring the horse that had been shown at Grand Prix by Charlotte Haid Bondegaard of Sweden beginning in 2012 and Germany’s Matthias Alexander Rath prior to that from 2008.
