DARMSTADT, Germany, Sept. 23, 2017–America’s Catherine Haddad-Staller debuted Semper Fidelis at Big Tour with a fourth place finish in the CDI4* Grand Prix Saturday.

Catherine and the 11-year-old Oldenburg mare scored 72.240 per cent with scores from the five judges all well above 70 per cent, one of five combinations in the starting lineup of 20 to achieve that mark.

Catherine of Califon, New Jersey and Loxahatchee, Florida began riding Semper Fidelis last year. The horse was acquired by Rowan O’Riley, a sponsor of Catherine for the past 2 1/2 years.

She went to Germany this summer to compete in some national shows before making the CDI debut here with Semper Fidelis (Sir Donnerhall x Welt Hit II)

Catherine spent 20 years as a trainer and competitor in Germany before returning to the United States when she married the veterinarian Greg Staller. She was reserve on different horses for U.S. teams at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany in 2006 and the 2010 WEG in Kentucky. She also competed at the 2007 World Cup Final in Las Vegas and at Leipzig, Germany in 2011.
