TRYON, North Carolina, Sept. 17, 2017–Jessica Jo Tate and Cayman V won the CDI-W Grand Prix Special at the Tryon International Equestrian Center Sunday in the first Big Tour competition for the pair.
“JJ,” of Wellington, Florida and the American-bred 14-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding were awarded 65.294 per cent for the win.
Canada’s Alexandra Duncan on Vitall placed second on 60.608 per cent with only two starters in the class that was depleted when severa riders stayed home to clean up after Hurricane Irma.
JJ took over the ride on Cayman last year competing in national classes in the southeast United States. The duo placed fifth in the Grand Prix Friday.
Heather Blitz of Wellington, Florida and Ripline, the American-bred Danish Warmblood stallion, won the Intermediate B Sunday with a score of 69.548 per cent to sweep the Medium Tour.
The pair of victories here were the first in CDIs for Heather and the nine-year-old Ripline that she has trained and competed through the levels since early 2012.
