Hans Peter Minderhoud and Glock’s Johnson TN of the Netherlands and Ireland’s Judy Reynolds and Vancouver K withdrew from the European Championships scheduled for next week, with injuries to both horses.
Vancouver, a 15-year-old gelding that with Judy was entered as Ireland’s sole individual combination, was injured in training, the Irish Field reported, but is expected to be back within about six weeks.
Judy and Vancouver, ranked No. 14 in the world, are popular on both sides of the Atlantic. The pair competed at the 2014 World Games, 2015 Europeans and 2016 Olympics as well as the Central Park Horse Show and at Devon last year and the World Cup Final in Omaha earlier this year.
Emmelie Scholtens on Apache was named to the Dutch team as replacement for Hans Peter and Johnson. Johnson incurred a minor injury last week that Hans Peter said prevented preparations for the championships.
Emmelie and Apache, a 12-year-old KWPN stallion, joins Edward Gal and Glock’s Voice, Madeleine Witte-Vrees and Cennin and Diederik van Silfhout on Four Seasons on the Dutch team.
