VERDEN, Germany, Aug. 6, 2017–Tatyana Kosterina and Diavolessa VA posted a personal best score to win the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Sunday and a double victory over Russia’s top combination of Inessa Merkulova and Mister X that was runner-up.

Tatyana and the nine-year-old Swiss Warmblood scored 73.961 per cent for the win following Saturday’s victory in the Grand Prix at this event, the fifth show for the Russian partnership since beginning Big Tour five months ago.

The duo led a Russian sweep of the top three places, with Inessa and Mister X second on 72.176 per cent and Stanislav Cherednichenko on Vosk in third on 70.902 per cent.

The Germany-based American Jennifer Hoffmann on Florentinus V was fourth on 70.588 per cent, the only other result at 70-plus per cent.

Inessa and Mister X, the 13-year-old Trakehner gelding, have been the top Russian combination for 3 1/2 years and are currently ranked No. 9 in the world. The pair competed for Russia at the 2016 Olympics, 2014 World Games, 2015 European Championships and World Cup Finals in Lyon, France in 2014, Las Vegas 2015, Gothenburg, Sweden 2016 and Omaha earlier this year.
