VERDEN, Germany, Aug. 5, 2017–Tatyana Kosterina rode the nine-year-old Diavolessa VA to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Saturday, topping fellow Russian Inessa Merkulova and Mister X that have dominated that country’s dressage for the past 3 1/2 years.
Tatyana and Diavolessa, a Hanoverian mare that is the rider’s first Big Tour mount, scored 72.300 per cent for the win and matched the pair’s previous best posted at Hamburg in May. That was the only previous victory since beginning Big Tour in March this year.
Inessa and Mister X, the 13-year-old Trakehner gelding, that have competed for Russia at the 2016 Olympics, 2014 World Games, European Championships and World Cup Finals on both sides of the Atlantic, placed second on 71.620 per cent.
The pair are ranked No.9 in the world while Tatyana and Diavolessa are at No. 264.
The USA’s Jennifer Hoffmann, based in Germany, was third on Florentinus V with a score of 69.440 per cent.
Jennifer and Florentinus, an 11-year-old Westfalen stallion, began their international Grand Prix career less than three months ago. She also competes XXXL Rubinio NRW at Big Tour.
