
ERMELO, Netherlands, Aug. 4, 2017–Don Martillo ridden by Germany’s Ann-Christin Wienkamp held nn for the victory in the qualifying test for the World 5-Year-Old Championships but Hesselhoej Donkey Boy and Jan Møller Christensen of Denmark led the second and final day preliminary testing Friday to take the reserve spot.
The Danish Warmblood stallion (Era Dancing Hit x Milan) scored a total of 9.64 points, including 9.7 for trot, 9.8 for walk and 9.5 for canter to be just 0.12 points behind Don Martillo that had taken the first day of qualifying.
Two pairs from Thursday qualifying, the Danish combination of Ferrari OLD and Andreas Helgstrand ended up in third place overall while Australia’s Simone Pearce on Helgstrand Dressage’s Hanoverian mare Casablanca were fourth.
