ERMELO, Netherlands, Aug. 3, 2017–Don Martillo, a Hanoverian stallion, was ridden by Germany’s Ann-Christin Wienkamp to lead the World Championships 5-year-old preliminary test after part one Thursday to qualify for the final.
Don Martillo (Don Juan de Hus x Benetton Dream) was awarded 9.76 points. The black stallion was bred in Germany by Axel Windeler.
Ferrari OLD, a German-bred Oldenburg stallion (Foundation x Blue Hors Hotline), was ridden by owner Andreas Helgstrand of Denmark to stand second on 9.42 points in Thursday’s lineup of 20 horses with another 19 to go Friday in the five-year-old test.
Casablanca, a Hanoverian mare ridden by Australia’s Simone Pearce and also owned by Andreas, was standing third on 9.16.
