WELLINGTON, Florida, July 8, 2017–Lars Petersen, the Danish Olympian and championship rider, now officially rides for the United States with his status changed in the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) records.

Lars, 51, who is married to Melissa Taylor, an American, became a United States’ citizen in February, 2016 but put off for a year applying to switch from Denmark while he was competing the mare, Mariett.

He first came to the United States as a teenager 35 years ago, though he returned home for a decade to ride horses for Blue Hors stud that took him to the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta as well as the 1998 World Games in Rome, the 1999 and 2001 European Championships.

He rode Mariett for Denmark at the 2014 World Games and qualified on her for two World Cup Finals.

Lars maintains close ties with Denmark, giving monthly clinics to riders at Blue Hors.
