NIZHNY NOVGOROD, Russia, June 11, 2017–Inessa Merkulova and Avans won the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday to move to the top of the Central European League standings for a start at the final in Paris in April 2018.

Inessa and the 12-year-old Russian-bred stallion scored 74.625 per cent for the win with the Omaha World Cup combination of Hanna Karasiova and Arlekino of Belarus second on 74.200 per cent.

Inessa, ranked No. 10 in the world on Mister X, her Olympic, championship and World Cup mount, moved to the top of the standings with 35 points after four of 10 events in Central Europe which is allocated two starting places in the final.

Hanna and Arlekino were one point back on 34 with Russian Stanislav Cherednichenko on Vosk ranked third after Sunday’s third place finish on 73.525 per cent.
