SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, California, Mar. 26, 2017–Dawn White-O’Conor and Legolas won the Dressage Affaire CDI3* Grand Prix Special Sunday in their first attempt at the Special and two days after capturing the Grand Prix to notch the first victories since taking over the ride on the American Olympic team bronze medal horse.
Dawn of San Diego, California and Legolas, a 15-year-old Westfalen gelding, won the Grand Prix Special on a score of 73.706 per cent in just the fourth CDI for the partnership since the first Big Tour event at the beginning of this year.
The 27-year-old rider and Legolas were awarded a score of 73.780 per cent for the Grand Prix Friday.
Legolas, owned by Akiko Yamazaki’s Four Winds Farm, had been ridden by Steffen Peters of San Diego for five years including the 2014 World Games and the 2016 Olympics. Dawn of San Diego, California has worked with Steffen for a decade.
Charlotte Jorst of Reno, Nevada on Kastel’s Nintendo placed second in the Special on 73.392 per cent with Kathleen Raine of Murietta, California on Breanna in third on 71.235 per cent.
