WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 11, 2017–Adrienne Lyle completed her second CDI on the 10-year-old mare Horizon by capturing the CDI3* Intermediate 1 Freestyle for the second straight victory at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival.
Adrienne also rode Harmony’s Duvall in the nine-year-old gelding’s first Intermediate 1, a national class, for a winning score of 72.763 per cent.
The 2012 U.S. Olympic team rider and Horizon scored 75.325 per cent in the CDI3* freestyle with Steffen Peters of San Diego, California on Bailarino second on 75.100 per cent and Jane Cleveland of Wellington, Florida on Monique third on 72.500 per cent.
“That was my first freestyle ever with her,” said Adrienne of Sun Valley, Idaho. “We actually just kind of pulled this together last minute. I wasn’t aware that when we entered we also had to have a freestyle, so once we got here to the show I called some friends and Katherine Bateson Chandler lent me an old freestyle of hers.
“This was the first time I’ve actually ridden through the whole thing. I was really happy and Horizon was really good and stayed right with me and was there for me, despite winging it.”
The win by Adrienne came after a victory in the Intermediate 1 Friday.
At the first CDI three weeks ago, the pair placed second in both the Prix St. Georges and Int. 1.
Duval that Adrienne rode in the national Int. 1 was bred by Harmony Sporthorses of Kiowa, Colorado. The horse was bought by Kylee Lourie of Denver who also owns the “TyL” farm where Debbie McDonald and Adrienne, her assistant, are based in Wellington.
