Morgan Barbançon’s Girasol can be seized to meet veterinary bills that the lawyer for a German clinic says were not paid by the family of the Spanish team rider, horses.nl reported Monday.

Lawyer Stephan Wensing on behalf of Dr. Victor Baltus’ Clinic Domäne Karthaus Dulmen was awarded a court decision to seize Girasol for unpaid bills totaling €40,000 for treatment of Painted Black and Girasol.

Girasol, a 16-year-old German Sport Horse mare, was bought from Nadine Capellmann, a German Olympic team gold medal rider, in 2015.

Painted Black was bought from Anky van Grunsven, Morgan’s then coach, after the Dutch superstar competed the KWPN stallion in two World Cup Finals, placing third at Las Vegas in 2009.

Morgan went on to compete Painted Black for Spain at the 2012 Olympic Games, the 2014 World Games and the World Cup Final in Las Vegas in 2015 and rode the stallion, then aged 18, at the European Championships in 2015 in his last competition.

Correction: Girasol is a mare, not a gelding as stated in a previous version
