LAS VEGAS, Nevada, Jan. 5, 2016–Steffen Peters rode Wizard Banamex to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Thursday, less than a month since the Mexican owner moved the horse to the USA Olympic team medalist.
In the first CDI at the South Point casino resort that hosts international jumping and Western shows, Steffen of San Diego, California and the 15-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding 68.560 per cent.
Wizard, owned by Maria de Lourdes Ariza, was competed at Big Tour at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida in 2014 then was dropped back to Small tour to compete for Mexico at the Pan American Games in 2015.
Kathleen Raine of Rancho Murieta on Breanna, a 17-year-old Hanoverian mare and Nations Cup team horse in their first competition in eight months, placed second on 68.540 per cent with Terri Rocovich of Ramona, California on Uiver third on 64.400 per cent.
