Laura Graves, Olympic team bronze medalist and the United States Grand Prix champion on her partner Verdades, is a candidate for Equestrian of the Year.
Laura, 29 years old of Geneva, Florida and the highest ranked American at No. 4 in the world on Verdades, placed fourth in the Olympic Grand Prix Freestyle that decided the individual medals in Rio de Janeiro.
Laura has worked with the KWPN gelding since Verdades was a foal 14 years ago.
She was a working student and waited tables nights to earn enough to train and develop the horse to Grand Prix.
She and Verdades placed fifth in the world championship Grand Prix Freestyle in 2014, won team gold and individual silver at the Pan American Games in 2015 and was on the American team that won bronze this year in her first Olympics and the first U.S. medal since 2004.
She finished fourth in her first World Cup Final appearance with Verdades at Las Vegas in 2015 and has indicated she will seek to go to the final to be staged in Omaha, Nebraska next March.
Laura is one of seven candidates for U.S. Equestrian Federation Equestrian of the Year.
