MOSCOW, Dec. 10, 2016–Hanna Karasiova and Arlekino won the World Cup Grand Prix Saturday in the last of 12 Central European League qualifiers likely to assure the Belarus combination a start in the global championship along with Russia’s Inessa Merkulova and Mister X.
Hanna and the Latvian-bred 10-year-old gelding scored 69.320 per cent for the victory with the freestyle scheduled for Sunday to confirm the rankings for the two places allocated to Central Europe for the final in Omaha March 27-April 2.
Standing second behind Inessa and Merkulova, who are not competing here as the pair have the maximum of 80 points from four wins, the Belarus pair are only six points back and cannot be overtaken.
Russia’s Elena Zhaivoronskaya on Sandra was second on 68.780 per cent and Regina Isachkina on Rubino Royal third on 67.500 per cent.
