George Williams, an American dressage official and coach, on Saturday was appointed a member of the FEI–International Equestrian Federation–Dressage Committee.

George, a member of the U.S. Equestrian Federation board of directors and president of the U.S. Dressage Federation, replaces outgoing member Hans-Christian Matthiesen of Denmark on the six-member committee.

George, 56 years old and based in Ravenna, Ohio, is also the American youth coach.

He competed on United States teams, most notably on Rocher, the floppy-eared mare.

The dressage committee is chaired by Frank Kemperman, and other members are Maribel Alonso de Quinzanos of Mexico, deputy chair; Luis Lucio of Spain; Anna Paprocka Campanella of Italy, and Klaus Roeser of Germany.
