LYON, France, Ocxt. 27, 2016–German Olympic team gold and individual silver medal pair Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD won the World Cup Grand Prix Thursday with a personal best score. Great Britain’s Carl Hester and Nip Tuck also logged a personal best in placing second.
Isabell and the 11-year-old Oldenburg mare scored 83.940 per cent that eclipsed the 83.2701 per cent result in mid-July that was the previous best high since taking over the ride full-time at the end of January this year.
Carl Hester and Nip Tuck, Great Britain’s Olympic team silver medal pair, also logged a personal best result of 78.320 per cent that beat the previous best of 78.200 per cent also set in July.
Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on Zaire was third on 76.320 per cent, rounding out the the top three all with personal best scores.
This competition is the second in the nine-event World Cup Western European League leading to the final in Omaha next month.
Isabell is a two-time World Cup champion, the last time at Las Vegas in 2007.
The Freestyle that will decide points to select nine Western European riders for the final will be staged Friday.
