SYDNEY, Oct. 21, 2016–Judy Dierks and Diamond Star won the Australian Championships World Cup Grand Prix Friday, the second victory for the pair this year.
Judy and the 10-year-old Bavarian gelding scored 68.860 per cent in the event that marks the halfway point of the Wold Cup circuit of eight qualifiers in the Pacific/Asia League of Australia and New Zealand for the Final in Omaha next March. The pair’s other victory this year was at this same show ground in September.
Heath Ryan and Utopian Cardinal placed second on 67.449 per cent with Rozzie Ryan on Jarrah R third on 66.840 per cent.
Pacific/Asia is the only one of the four geographic leagues that selects its sole representative to the World Cup championship by a league final of invited combinations that this season will be staged in New Zealand.
