WAYNE, Illinois, Aug. 28, 2016–Lucky Strike was ridden by Endel Ots to the United States Six-Year-Old Championship Sunday, the first national title for the pair that competed at the world championships the past two years.
Lucky Strike, a Hanoverian gelding (Lord Laurie x His Highness), was ridden by Endel of Wellington, Florida to victories in both the Final Sunday and the preliminary test for an overall score of 86.040.
Don Cesar, a Westfalen gelding competed by Cesar Parra of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey was reserve champion on 84.360 with Sternlicht Hilltop ridden by Michael Bragdell of Colora, Maryland in third on 80.280.
In the four-year-old championships, Lucky Strike placed third. They did not compete here in 2015 after the world championships but made the trip to this Chicago area show grounds after their second appearance at the world championships a month ago.
Endel said he plans to move Lucky Strike up to developing Prix St. Georges next year.
Sunshine Tour, a nine-year-old Oldenburg mare (Sir Donnerhall x xAlabaster) was ridden by Jane Karol of Concord, Massachusetts to the Developing Grand Prix Championship on a combined Intermediate II and Grand Prix score of 66.917.
Clapton JP competed by Holger Bechtloff of Wellington, Florida was reserve champion on 66.040 and Highschool MCF ridden by Petra Warlimont of Evergreen, Colorado on 63.749.
