PARKER, Colorado, July 30, 2016–Nicholas Hansen and Ritter Benno won the Freestyle Saturday to capture all three gold medals at the North American Young Rider Championships.
Nicholas, 21 years old of Catawissa, Pennsylvania and the 15-year-old Westfalen gelding scored 72.125 per cent, the third result above 70 per cent and the only rider to do so in the team and individual as well as the finale freestyle.
Nicholas was competing in his third continental championships in four years and Ritter Benno produced the winning performances despite four years of on-again, off-again competition because of injury.
Rebekah Mingari of Crestwood, Kentucky on Elzarma TF scored 69.328 per cent for silver and Canada’s Emily Ferguson on Wrazzmatazz the bronze on 68.925 per cent.
Jenna Upchurch of Chesterfield, Missouri on Greystoke won the Junior Individual gold on a score of 70.632 per cent. The pair w0n team silver Thursday.
Canada’s Vanessa Creech-Terauds on Fleur de Lis took silver on 70.184 per cent and Mexico’s Carlos Maldonado Lara on Massimo earned bronze on 69.974 per cent.
